930 G Street
Sacramento, CAlifornia
Situated in the heart of downtown Sacramento’s Alkali Flats district, 930 G Street is one of the city’s few stand-alone, two-story office buildings under 20,000 square feet, with immediate access to City Hall, the County Courthouse, the State Capitol, and the Golden 1 Center—anchoring it within a dynamic and evolving urban core. Originally constructed in the 1960s as the Malone Building, the project presented a clear opportunity for a focused shell renovation, preserving the brick façade while modernizing the structure for today’s professional environment. Our redesign introduces contemporary architectural layers that elevate and articulate the building without overwhelming its mid-century character, with sunshades, metal panel siding, decorative screens, and metal-clad fins establishing rhythm and texture across the façade, while cantilevered aluminum louver canopies accent the second-floor glazing; mechanical systems are discreetly screened, and integrated exterior lighting reinforces a clean, cohesive expression—resulting in a disciplined architectural refresh that is both respectful of its heritage and positioned to engage the evolving downtown context with clarity and presence.
