People

culture + CONNECTION

We’re a team with unique strengths, experiences, and ways of thinking—and that’s what fuels our work. We value balance, well-being, and family, knowing that when people feel supported and grounded, creativity thrives. Our team is empowered to explore ideas, challenge assumptions, and inspire one another, and this shows up in how we work every day—in our hybrid rhythm, our community involvement, and the moments we share along the way.

Our culture isn’t handed down—it’s co-created, shaped by the energy and perspective each person brings. By investing in people, we strengthen relationships, spark new ideas, and bring both our work and our workplace to life.

“…it’s the kind of studio where there’s real camaraderie—people show up for each other, and you’re always learning because of it…”

– Beth Miller, 20 Years

Our Story

Borges began in 1984, when Lane Borges started his architectural journey in a Granite Bay garage alongside Chris Eatough—blending construction and design in service of the local community. What began as a small, hands-on practice grew into Borges Architectural Group, shaped by a collaborative spirit and a deep connection to the people and places it served. As the firm evolved, leadership was built from within—expanding into new markets while maintaining a strong foundation rooted in teamwork, trust, and shared purpose.

In 2012, Lane passed the torch to the next generation, setting the stage for continued growth and new ways of working. Rich Sambucetti helped guide the firm through this evolution—refining its direction, strengthening relationships, and supporting steady growth through his retirement in 2022. Today, under the leadership of principal architect Adam Lehner, Borges continues to evolve—grounded in its entrepreneurial roots while building meaningful relationships, supporting its community, and shaping environments that reflect how people live, work, and connect.
